Kits and assemblies can both be managed in the Factory module. The verbiage on these vary slightly from system to system. For Alox, the distinction is:
- a Kit is a macro, that will pull multiple items at specific quantities into an order when making a sale
- an Assembly is a BOM (Bill Of Materials) that is a tool for converting stocked items on hand into a new, stocked and costed, lot of a different item
- Costs from the items listed in an Assembly's BOM flow into that assembly in a standard FIFO arrangement upon conversion
- An Assembly's BOM can be made up of other Assemblies
